Questions

Comparing car inspections

Is an AA or RAC inspection better than an independent one?

Not automatically. All three send a trained inspector to the car. The differences are price, how soon you can book, what each level includes and where they cover. The AA and RAC cover the whole UK and check more points on their top levels. We are usually cheaper, can often inspect the same day, and include photos and an MOT history analysis in every report.

Which car inspection is cheapest?

Our Basic inspection starts at £69.99. At the time we checked, the AA started at £110 (£99 for members), the RAC from £132 and SwiftFleet from £79.

How does RevXpress compare with SwiftFleet?

Both are mobile inspection services that come to the car. SwiftFleet covers Greater London; we cover London. Their prices differ across their website, from £79 to £179.99 when we checked. Ours are fixed from £69.99 to £169.99, with photos and an MOT history analysis in every report, and road tests of up to 20 miles on our top level.

Do I need diagnostics on a used car inspection?

We recommend it. An OBD2 scan shows stored and pending fault codes, and signs that codes were cleared just before you arrived. With the AA and RAC it is only in their top level. With us it is included from Full.
