How it works
From booking to report in six steps.
Choose your inspection
Pick Basic, Full, Premium or Ultimate. If you’re not sure, the three-question chooser on the Inspections page suggests one.
Book a time online
Live availability shows every free time. You can book from 2 hours ahead, so same-day inspections are often possible. You pay securely by card, and your booking is confirmed straight away.
Tell the seller we’re coming
Let the seller know the time and that an inspector will look over the car and take it for a road test (Full and above). Ask them not to warm the engine up before we arrive.
We inspect the car
Your inspector meets the car wherever it is, works through the checklist for your package, scans the car’s computer and road tests it where included.
You get your report
Findings are marked pass, advisory or needs attention, with photos. Premium and Ultimate add an HD video walkthrough and repair cost estimates.
You decide
Buy with confidence, use the findings to negotiate, or walk away. The decision is always yours.
On the day
What the seller needs to do
- Have the car somewhere it can be safely walked around and, for road tests, driven.
- Leave the engine cold so we can check how it starts.
- Have the V5C logbook and any service history ready to look at.
- Allow time for the inspection. Depending on the package, it takes about one to two hours.
Good to know
What an inspection can and can't tell you
Our inspections are non-intrusive. We look, listen, measure, road test and read the car's computer, but we don't take anything apart. That means some internal engine, gearbox or transmission problems can't be fully confirmed.
An inspection shows the car's condition on the day. It can't predict future faults, and it isn't a warranty. We also recommend a vehicle history check for finance, write-off and theft records, and the free MOT history check on GOV.UK.
Full details are in our terms and conditions.
