End of lease

Lease return inspection

End-of-lease damage charges often come as a surprise. Our inspector checks your car a few weeks before it is collected, using the industry’s fair wear and tear guidelines, and photographs anything likely to be charged.

You then have time to get smart repairs, a wheel refurb or a new tyre done locally, usually for much less than the leasing company would charge, or to know what to expect.

Questions

Lease return inspection FAQs

What is “fair wear and tear”?

Most UK leasing companies use the BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear Guide. It sets out what is acceptable for a car of that age and mileage, such as small stone chips, and what is chargeable, such as dents with broken paint or kerbed wheels. We check the car against those guidelines.

When should I book a lease return inspection?

Two to six weeks before the collection date, so there is time to get anything fixed.

Does your report replace the leasing company’s inspection?

No. The leasing company or its agent will still inspect the car at collection, and their assessment decides any charges. Our report shows you in advance what is likely to be charged. It is not prepared for disputes with the leasing company, and RevXpress does not take part in them (section 4.4 of our terms).

How much does it cost?

Lease return inspections use our fixed prices, from £69.99 for Basic up to £169.99 for Ultimate, with no travel charge in London. We recommend Basic or Full is usually enough for a lease return; choose Full if you want warning lights and fault codes checked too.

How do I book?

Book online and choose a time, or call us on 020 3819 6799. When you book, tell us in the notes that it’s a lease return inspection so the inspector knows what to focus on.

Ask us a question

RevXpress is an independent inspection company. Our inspections are non-intrusive: we look, listen, test drive and scan, but don't take anything apart.
